Sharing the Love: How Acorn by Synergie Supports Local Communities
Valentine’s Day is all about love—not just for people, but for the communities we live and work in. At Acorn by Synergie, we believe in giving back, supporting local talent, and making a real impact.
Through Acorn Impact, we’re dedicated to helping individuals from challenging or marginalised backgrounds access opportunities to improve their futures. Our pledge is to work towards 10,000 hours of company time dedicated to enhancing social mobility over the next three years.
Over the past six months, our teams have dedicated time, energy, and expertise to various community initiatives—because love for your community is shown through action.
Here are just a few ways we’ve been making a difference:
🌳 Planting Seeds for the Future – Newton Abbot
Alongside National Trust volunteers and ParkLife SW, we spent a morning planting 1,000 trees to support climate action and biodiversity. This wasn’t just about today—it was about the future. One of our team members even brought their son along so he could one day show his family the woodland we helped create.
🔄 Giving Second Chances – HMP Exeter
We visited HMP Exeter to discuss how we can support prison leavers in finding employment. By engaging with individuals pre-release, we aim to boost confidence, shift mindsets, and provide real job opportunities. We’ve already been invited to an upcoming employment fair to connect with potential employers and continue breaking down barriers.
🤝 Standing with Workers – Port Talbot
When redundancies hit the Port Talbot Steelworks, we stepped in to offer employment support, meeting with affected workers, registering candidates, and helping them find new opportunities.
🚧 Building Strong Foundations – Cardiff
We delivered an insight session with the OCA, guiding six individuals on the realities of careers in construction—covering everything from entry points to the mindset needed for success.
🐾 Lending a Hand (and a Paw!) – Warrington
As part of our Acorn Impact Day, two of our team members spent eight hours volunteering at the RSPCA Warrington, Halton & St Helens Branch, supporting the amazing work they do for animals in need.
